Millions of objects to represent data in a scene

    Hi,

    For a project I have to represent 4000000 points of data in a 3D space, possibly more in the future. I'd need to be able to see these points and edit their size, color and transperancy. Obviously having 4 million game objects one scene is a bit much to ask, so I would like to ask what other objects or methods I could use.

    I have looked into paticles from a particlesystem, but it still seems like there's a significant perfomance drop to the point the scene is unusable. Now I might be missing something with particles, but as far as I can tell, I disabled most "costly" features.

    Any suggestions or tutorials to achieve this? Or is Unity simply not suited for this purpose.
