After updating from 2021.2.0f1 (Apple Silicon) to 2021.2.1f1 (Apple Silicon), my project now has thousands of errors:

A meta data file (.meta) exists but its asset 'Packages/com.unity.modules.director/package.ModuleCompilationTrigger 2' can't be found. When moving or deleting files outside of Unity, please ensure that the corresponding .meta file is moved or deleted along with it.

    Any thoughts?

Probably best to revert and then make sure you are properly source controlling everything necessary.

If you're not already using source control, you probably will need a full backup from before the update attempt.

Thanks! I was already in source control and properly dealing with visible meta files, etc. (I had already followed that guide weeks back.)

Reverting back to the previous version solves the problem (though re-introduces unfixed editor bugs).

Maybe before you try the upgrade make sure you blow away the package cache, or even the entire built area of the project (eg., Library, which you shouldn't be source controlling). That suffixed "2" on the end makes me think something is being duplicated or doubled or something.

That did it! For others who might hit this:

    1) I closed the project and Unity Hub.
    2) I deleted the local Library folder in my Unity project.
    3) I opened Unity Hub. Changed editor versions to the latest.
    4) Opened the project.

    No errors!
