here is a screenshot. Only way to remove it is to restart my computer :(

I couldn't find the process in the task manager either

I'm in windows 7 using unity 5. Not sure what else is relevant.

    force kill explorer.exe?

It's a handle that got somehow detached, happens from time to time in lots of apps not just unity, usually I find it's when I have been struggling for mem or resources. Simply logging off should have picked it up.

Graphics card? Latest driver? Happens all the time? :)

Unity is the only app this happens to me in, having used eclipse/maya/photoshop, etc. It has happened to me at least 2 times I think in the past 2 weeks. I know that it's not that frequent, but it's a real pain to have to restart everything when I'm working. Graphics card is Radeon R9 280. Is this really a graphics card issue, though? I'd rather not risk updating my drivers and breaking any of my games that work fine.

    restarting explorer did not work.
