    Hello!

I hope I'm in the right place with my question, if I'm not, please excuse me. And excuse me for my english too.

I would like to ask for help. I would like to publish an asset in the asset store, which is a gate with fence. I finished the modelling part, and now I would like to use some pictures from rawpixel.com. The plan is to use that pictures as a sculpting brush to decorate my assets. I have a free license on rawpixel.com, and I would like to use CC0 and royalty free pictures. In this case if I understand correctly I need to "required to attribute rawpixel.com".

    https://www.rawpixel.com/services/licenses "

    1. Our straightforward Commercial License For every image you download, we grant you a commercial license for a single user which is non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable. It applies throughout the world and is subject to the standards and restrictions set out below. If you have a Free Membership Plan you are required to attribute rawpixel.com every time you use or display the image. If you have a Premium Membership Plan no attribution is required."

What I would like to know: Can I write in the asset's page sentences like this: "the ornaments' bases are pictures which come from rawpixel.com"? Would be important to know this, because if I can't mention other sites, I need to buy a premium membership in rawpixel.com or I have to create own ornament pictures. The other thing what I would like to know in which I'm not 100% sure : Can I use in my project regular CC0 and Royalty free pictures? Is it not a problem right?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Highlights mine:

Royalty-Free commercial use license. Use anywhere in the world for unlimited projects with no expiration dates.
    • Print and digital advertising, broadcasts, product packaging, presentations, websites and blogs.
    • One user per license.
    • You can’t re-sell or re-distribute rawpixel content.
    • You can’t use rawpixel content for prints or other merchandise without adding considerable artistic value.

You can use their image(s) in your marketing material but given this license you cannot bundle them in your asset.

CC0 (public domain) assets are free to use for any purpose. But the above license is not CC0. You need to be sure the images you use are using the CC0 license not any other.
"Royalty free" is not a license. It just means you don't have to pay for uses, but the uses may still be restricted like above.

Any license that requires you to attribute the author isn't allowed on the store as far as I understand their terms.

There are also other sources for CC0 or otherwise legally usable image assets, such as opengameart.org and itch.io.

That is all? Sounds a lot like an asset that will be rejected for being "too simple".

Thank you for your fast answer! Helped a lot.
I feel I understand those things which are important for me.

I made a little summary, please correct me if I'm wrong.
    - If I use CC0 pictures, I don't need to attribute the author (any sites where the pictures come from or the creator's name), no matter I only have free membership. Not as if I would use Royalty Free pictures with rawpixel's free membership.
    - So I can't use Royalty Free pictures from rawpixel with free membership, mainly because of Unity Store doesn't allow to attribute the author (if you know correctly as you said).

I feel, and I hope it won't be rejected, because many "gate and fence" assets in Unity Store are similar like mine. My asset is consisting of the following: a gate, a fence, a pillar, plus an outdoor door. In addition the gate and the door have "curved tube ornament" on their tops, have keyhole, handle and latches or door tongues(I don't know what is the correct english naming of these). And everything is "fully textured". So I hope the best. :)

CC0 is public domain, there are no requirements, conditions, restrictions. It is not related to any memberships.

The full Asset Store provider terms are here: https://unity.com/legal/provider
The "attribution required" licenses such as CC-BY-SA (the "SA" part specifically) are not allowed because it would force the buyer of the asset to also include such notices in their products. This is explained in this FAQ entry.

"Royalty Free" is again not a license but a marketing catch-phrase. You couldn't even use these assets if the Asset Store allowed them because if the commercial-use license I posted above applies, you are not allowed to re-sell or re-distribute that asset. This of course only applies to that particular custom license of theirs. They appear to also host CC0 assets probably to entice people to sign up I guess.

Indeed that seems to be a thing. :D

Do keep in mind though that there may be enough of these (saturated market). If they are selling next to nothing, Unity will likely not want another one of these.

I checked a few of those and they were from 2018-2020 according to "latest release date". The bar to entry raises frequently. The latest entry from 2022 is this fence pack.

Well, you'll see in a couple weeks. If it does get rejected, making a pack of these is one way to go. The other to add more stylistic elements, eg garden or cemetary items, whatever matches the style.

Thanks for this answer too. Things became more clear. The second part of your answer was very helpful as well. I think I understood important things due to that, about the Asset Store's "needs". Yea, if my work does get rejected, I think I try to add those "stylistic elements". I thought that (already before these conversation) maybe I should create street elements to that, like fire pine, or just simple a sidewalk etc.. Now I have more idea, for example a nice wrought iron street lamp or yea, something nice garden elements. We'll see.
