    Dear all,

I would like to share with you my latest project, Mechanical Calculator. This is not a game but kind of a simulator of a virtually working mechical calculator.

This is a replica of mechanical calculator from mid 1800s. I used various reference from different resources. I wanted to show the interior of such amazing machine and entire mechanism.
I enjoyed every single step of this project where it started as a weekend project, then when I decided to make it a running machine it took more time to understand the mechanism and actually replicate the mechanism on Unity. Modeling, texturing and mechanism took around 3 weeks to complete.

The model is highpoly, around 2.5M polys (the aim was not to make a game ready model) and textures are 2048x2048 and all materials are PBR materials both mine and Unity measured materials. The entire mechanism is based on few lines of codes and hundreds of colliders (just triggers).

All images and videos are realtime in-game graphics with Unity HDRP. Thanks to Unity's CineMachine it was really simple to capture videos within editor.

One of the most common questions I get from developers who use HERE APIs and services is about distance calculations. The HERE SDK and APIs make it simple to calculate paths or routes, but getting the total distance from those calculations isn't as straightforward. In fact, there are a variety of distances that can be calculated.

That is very cool, I have an Original Odhner machine on my desk and two Curta Calculators, you should do the Curtas as your next project :) Well done.

Thanks ;) Curta's are great small machines, maybe more complicated than this one, but why not thanks for suggestion :)
