Mecanim Stop reset on SetActive true/false

    Is there any way to stop mecanim reseting on SetActive.

    I am using it for my GUI menu's, I turn the GUI gameobject off and show a Pause gameobject, I then restore the GUI gameobject on unpause and all the anim states are reset including variables.

    Considering other objects don't fire their Start behaviour again, this seems backwards.
