Mecanim animation question

    Hi guys, i have been browsing through the forums to find an answer to the following question, Can Mecanim be used to create animations from scratch?

    I have looked for information about this and cant seem to find any indication that i can. I watched that fifty minute tutorial about the robot but that is the only one i could find. So if the answer to the above question happens to be yes, can someone point me to a tutorial.
