I am leaning toward buying Maya, but I have one question.

I have noticed when I import from blender into Unity, Unity opens a blender window to import. Does the same thing happen with maya?

The reason for this question is I would like to run Maya on my PC only as it's a few hundred times faster than my current mac (older) :) and I don't have the money to get a mac that's as fast as my pc for graphics work.

So does Unity support Maya files natively or do you require maya to be installed ON the mac?

    Thanks ahead of time...

You need to have Maya installed on your mac.
Note however that we are using Maya batchmode only, which means that you don't need a working license, you just need to have it installed.

Of course you can also just export to fbx on the pc.

    Thanks for the info,

I forgot about the fbx export  I used to use an older version of maya that didn't have it.
