Sorry to create yet ANOTHER Maya LT help request but I've encountered another weird problem:
I've had to import my model from Cinema 4D (OBJ) but it seems that thtere's an unremoveable phong1 material stuck to a few meshes of my model.

I can't seem to get rid of it. Even if I assign aother material the phong1 is stuck in the Attribute editor and won't go away.

I've tried Optimizing Scene Size and I've tried edit >delete all by type > Shading Groups and materials.

I can try to assign an existing or a new material and when I click the next object the material is even shown on the mesh but If I click on other meshes the material seems to flicker between the new assigned and phong 1.

    Help, please...?

Not sure why it's there I guess something still uses it, but you can get rid of it via node editor. Choose your mesh's shape node and expands it's connections in node editor. Then choose shadingGroup node and expand it's connection and Phong1 node should be there. Select it and delete.
