    Hi guys!

Just wana firstly say that Unity looks fantastic, and I'm overjoyed that something like this has finally hit the Mac..

Anywayz, I've been trying to import a maya model which is made up of mostly nurbs, and for some reason some of the parts of the model dont make it through the import. (lots of random lofts seem to get lost).

So I tried again converting the model to polygons, and exporting again.. But I'm getting the same result. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Or is it something to do with grouping the model in a certain way before the export? Can't seem to figure it out.

(I tried to import a model with only 3 curves and it worked fine, its just this model thats making me go mad since I spent a while modelling it!)

Oh yeh, I've been exporting as a .fbx file!

    Thanks!

    -Mel

This seems to be a back face culling issue. Make sure your mesh has the normals facing in the right direction.

You can see backfacing issues by either visualizing normals in maya or turning off double sided rendering in the Render Stats tab.

Sorry, I've only started using maya for a couple of weeks so Im still pretty new to the program.

I don;t know where the double side polygon thing is in the render options, had a peak in the render settings and couldnt find it.

Something else that is odd is when i import it back to maya everything is fine. Its very strange.

I've modelled something else and its doing exactly the same thing.

Can anyone give a newbie some step by step instructions?

    1) Select the mesh
    2) Select the shape tab
    3) Open the render stats tab
    4) Disable double sided rendering
    5) Make sure opposite is not checked

See the attached screenshot on where to find the render stats.

    AAAA... I see...

I'm puzzled as to why its even done that in the first place since I had to manually create all the lofts seperately..

Is there an easy way to fix this? I'm kinda stomped!

Thanks, I know I must be getting on your nerves now! ;)

Don't worry. It takes a lot more to get on my nerves.

    1) Select the mesh
    2) Menu command: Edit Polygons -> Normals -> Reverse

    And welcome to the forums.
Looking forward to what you are coming up with unity.
