I've created a character in Maya and exported it into a Unity folder. Now I'm practicing creating different animations on that character, (again, all in Maya). As I create an animation, say an "Idle", I want to export only the animation file, as I already have the character in Unity, I just want to be able to continue to send more animation clips over to Unity. The only way I know of doing this is to use Maya's Atom animation exporter. The problem there is it saves it as an "atom" file which can't be opened in Unity. Any ideas? I don't want to put multiple animations on one time line, unless of course I have no choice, then I can separate my animations on the time line and export the whole character to Unity with the animation.
Seems there should be a way to import all of the animation clips I want from Maya without having to import the character as well.
    Thanks in advance.

I would use Maya's fbx Exporter. You can specify to export animation only, go, etc.
