Help Wanted MARS Cloud Anchors

    Hi
    What support is currently implemented or planned for Cloud Anchor support?
    Or, any kind of methodology for persisting saved AR objects between user sessions?

    hello @MatWright ,

    Currently there is no support for persistent/cloud anchors, right now the best approach to re-localize your space between user sessions would be by using image markers and aligning your world with the physical space (yo can align your world based on a poster or such).

    Moving to the not-so-distant future, we will definitely adding support for anchors, at which point you will be able to re-localize your own space without the image markers. There is a foundation for this but currently we are not shipping providers for this functionality. As far as I know its a high-priority task and the team is working on it.

    Furthermore, we plan to release a MARS Companion app where you will be able to scan the anchors of your space and bring those into your project to re-localize against between user sessions. The initial version of Unity MARS is out and the companion apps should be coming later this year

    Is anyone aware if Azure Cloud anchors cache information in case of bad or no internet access? If the wifi goes dead does the app (relying on anchors) fail as well?
