Mario Bros. : The Original Arcade Classic

Hello,
I was wondering how the collision is done in
Mario Bros. : The Original Arcade Classic

look at the:

if you are not familiar with the old game..
when the player hit a bloc it goes up and the connected ones go up

how can this be done?

some ideas:
- animated sprites (when hit, it plays that bump animation)
- vertex deform (similar to https://gamedevelopment.tutsplus.co...sh-with-dynamic-2d-water-effects--gamedev-236 )
- to move sprites above, could check if they are within range to head hit point https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Physics2D.OverlapCircleAll.html
