The first 25 copies will be available to the general public. So, first come, first serve. We will release the copies in two waves so that the europeans have no advantage over the americans. :)

But if you are an artist you can send an email to our support containing at least one image showing your work, as we have another 25 copies available just for artists. The artists have a little special treatment, as they are the main focus group. ;)

We are sorry for delay. We had to fixed some OCL issues on Intel and AMD devices.

As compensation for the delay we'll publish additional 25 copies free beta copies. :)

Sorry for such a beginner question, but would this be ideal tool for creating 3d model for shipping containers when using just simple box without any additional geometry?

Just setting your input image, tweak the normal and metallic settings and Map Lab outputs the following (~15sec of work):

    Low Resolution Preview

    container_model.jpg

    Output Maps
Left to right: Albedo, Normal, Metallic, Smoothness, Height, Ambient Occlusion
After export Metallic and Smoothness get combined.

I would love to try it too! I do all the texturing and art for our game and this would be so useful! I love the looks of this, much better than the tools I use now!

That is Hella awesome, I can't wait to incorporate this into my workflow. I currently use crazybump, and tested Nrender, but I like the look of yours much better.

Where do I sign up (for the beta, I've signed up for the website)?
This looks incredible, and very useful to me. I don't know much regarding PBR maps and this will surely help out.

You don't need to sign up for the beta. Every registered user (on our website) can download the beta, as long as one of the 50 copies is available.

Please note that Crayz Bump may have the easier workflow (especially for beginners), but it's limited to a certain range of possibilities.

With Map Lab you can freely add/remove/move/tune/blend layers and filters which gives the user unlimited possibilities. But this unrivalled artistic freedom is not for free, one does pay with a longer training time to learn about all the little nifty details. :)
