Games Manhattan - Yet another Zombie Shooter, a dev's diary

    This is a work in progress for a new Zombie shooter. I needed something in between my other projects, to not get bored. ;)

    What you'll see here is the outcome from the last two weeks.



    The following assets were used:

    • Opsive Ultimate Character Controller
    • Enviro Sky
    • Opsive Behaviour Designer
    • Gaia
    and finally lots of models from the asset store

    The first level is just for fun and testing purposes, and will just be available as bonus hidden somewhere in the final game ;)

    Soundesign was made also by me.

    Any comment and constructive criticsim is highly appreciated.

    Today I encountered a funny bug in a script, which makes a dog run away instead of following my player.



    But maybe he wants to show me something...;)

    Well, maybe I should say a few words about the story at this point. Maybe it will change a little bit, but on the whole the game is already quite clear.

    The protagonist finds himself in his apartment in the morning and realizes that there is no one left, except some zombies and dogs.

    In the course of the story it turns out that some alien life form has something to do with it, at least every now and then crashed spaceships and dead aliens appear.

    The player's task now is to find out what happened and where the rest of the humans stayed.

    Of course I won't tell you everything, but I'll give you a few snippets from the rest of the story here and there.

    I am also busy at the moment trying to stop the dog from running away.

    Ah and something about making barking dog sounds:

    Usually I go to the park with my field recorder ask some dog owner for permission to record the dog sound for my game.
    In most cases people are exited and interested. Currently the weather is so bad here, that I have to use some sounds from freesound.org as a placeholder. They get replaced later.

    The samples then go straight into my MPC live, are being sliced and exported to SD and to the Unity project.
