Ok i got Unity about a month ago, watched some tutorials it's pretty fun and all, but i ran into a bit of a problem. I can't seem to make any indoor levels. I tried using the terrain tool, and it works great for outdoors. Ok so how do I make levels that go indoors (eg. underground bunker).

Ps: I used to make maps/levels in source sdk, so making levels in unity is a whole different planet to me :)

You'll need an external modeling app (3DS Max, Maya, Blender etc.) where you'll build your models, setup their UV's, textures, then import them across as .fbx or .obj files. Then create materials to use on your various surfaces and apply the textures you made to them. Then either light it with regular lights, or use lightmaps if you've made those too.

I think technically you don't HAVE to have a modelling app - you could just create a plane in Unity and create your textures manually in PS or whatever, and then apply the textures to the plane object.

But yeah, it's WAY easier to do in an external app.
