IMO it's just more clean to install it through the link on their website otherwise people may ask for all the version available through hub(which might be better idea then just one last version :p)

Integrating the download archive of past versions into the Hub is on the agenda of the team. For now, the next upcoming beta release for Hub v3 should add a link to the website archives.

You know about the download archives though, right?

For betas, just go to https://unity3d.com/beta/ scroll down a bit until you see the tabs for "latest version", "release notes" and "archive". Click archive and you'll get links to each beta, each beta page also has "install with hub" links.

Also if you know the specific version you want, you can write https://unity3d.com/unity/beta/2021.2.0b8 etc, just swap the version from the url to the version you want. For alphas syntax is https://unity3d.com/unity/alpha/2021.2.0a9.

For released (non-beta) unity versions it's even simpler as you can get the old versions from https://unity3d.com/get-unity/download/archive

I do get there's bit extra effort needed to get to beta links but then again, it's mean for early adopters so.. :)

As additional note, there's also RSS feed that contains beta latest releases here: https://unity3d.com/unity/beta/latest.xml

I personally use the RSS feed most of the time as it's faster to use but you do need some kind of RSS reader for it.

I'd prefer to have a dropdown option to install any past version from the Hub but that's what people have been asking since first Unity Hub beta. Not holding my breath.

    for info,
with external tools can see full (searchable) list, and 1-click to open download url (or release notes) in the browser, also shows the version text as green if you already have that version installed.
