I'm making a multi platform application and it looks like it will need to download a large part of it as a package on mobile but I don't want that to happen for desktop. Is there any standard way of managing that without creating two separate projects that need to be maintained?

Look at asset bundles. You can package them in for desktop and fetch remotely for mobile.

Thanks, I have been looking at asset bundles. What would be the best way of managing that? Should I be placing the bundles in the Streaming assets folder after building or can I manage the switching within Unity? Maybe with an Editor script?
