    Hi guys,
I already develop for android, now i want to develop for IOS.

I don´t need a great machine, my plan is to do all the work on my windows PC and then use the mac just to some adjustments and build the app.

So i´m between the macbook air with Intel Core i5 Dual-Core (Haswell) 1.3Ghz, 4GB and Intel Graphics HD5000 or the macbook pro with Intel Core i5 2.5GHz, 4 GB and Intel HD Graphics 4000.

So, if i get the macbook air I will be able to do the job without regreat in 6 months?

    Thank you.

My macbook air does a great job... I'm not an Apple fan, but it's a decent enough laptop since it's so light and portable really. And I dual-boot Win8 :)

I have both, Air i7 and Pro i7 and they are both great, but here is a few things that you should know.

The MacBook Pro cant keep up with Air when it comes to battery life.. if you wanna work alot on battery, then definitely go with Air.. 10 hour of coding without recharging is easy possible.

The display of the Air is really bad... low resolution and low viewing angel.. not sure if thats an issue for you, but it cant keep up with the retina display on pro... its a HUGE difference.

you cant update the Ram in the Air.. so you really need to go with 8 gig if you still wanna use it in the next 2-3 years.

windows works great on both machines but it does a terrible job on power management, so you cant expect long battery if you wanna work in windows mainly... also if your game requires good graphic performance, go with Pro... air is great, but it has no real video card.

but have you think about mac mini?
its cheaper and has more performance I guess.. I never used 1, but i hear its a great machine for that price.. so if you just need it for compiling and your display supports 2 inputs, maybe thats cheaper and better for you!

I have a Mac Mini with i5 and 4gb Ram, and I bought it just to develop for iOS.
Unfortunately, 4 gb is not enough to make this Mac my main computer since I use Photoshop and Unity at the same time, so it start lagging and freezing in just a matter of minutes.

The new airs are blisteringly fast. TBH the macbook pro is kind of overkill for general game development and isn't necessarily going to lead to faster development.

What concerns me the most is the future. I mean, in brasil mac is really expensive. So i'm worry if i buy the air version and soon i need something better.
People always says mac is the best and it works great for years.
You think i can stay with the air for the next years without problems?

    Thank you
