    Ivy Studio is the next generation of Ivy creation and optimization system and can be used in editor and run time, with focus on run time possibilities.

    The system can do massive performance optimization to the placed Ivy and also optimize Ivy on the fly at run time in various ways and modes.

    Features:
    - Ivy generation based on plant behavior rules
    - Ivy creation and manipulation in editor
    - Ivy generation and on the fly optimization in run time
    - Easy change of Ivy leaves and flowers with any prefab
    - Extreme optimization of the Ivy mesh with per stoke or global mode for run time
    - Ungrow option to remove all Ivy from scene and regrow it for edit or game start to reduce scene file size
    - Deterministic planting, so can have recreation of the exact same Ivy branches on Ivy recreation
    - Flat mesh branches for maximum performance
    - Ivy generator limit per area drawing, so multiple grow managers may be used
    - Grid based system to help split the Ivy for performance, automated grid creation
    - LOD system that will cut off the Ivy at distance when the grid system and limited area planting per manager as used.

    Planned features:
    - Option for full 3D branches, for the stronger systems
    - Gradual growth of Ivy
    - Ivy gradual burn system
    - More options on placement e.g. create Ivy bridges

    Hi, thanks :). The offer will last also for the two coming weeks for sure, then may change or removed, but i can always make a custom offer if already own one of my major assets like Sky Master ULTIMATE.

    Ivy Studio v1.0.3 has been released the the Unity Asset Store !!!

    Ivy Studio v1.0.3
    - Added user defined leaf and flower size variance
    - Added gradual grow optimization, where branches of same stroke are batched together after growth
    - Added directionality of Ivy option, with direct direction definition or assign by camera forward vector
    - Added Gizmo level control, zero disable icons and plant limit boxes, one shows only icons and two shows both
    - Added Undo and Redo integrated with Unity editor
    - Added new Demo scenes showcasing the new directional growth with gradual or instant growth and the new leaves size variance.

    Ivy Studio work in progress on testing the system on mobile. Ivy Studio demo was built for Android and is now confirmed to work directly on mobile. A demo APK will follow soon. The image above is grabbed directly from a Samsung S8 phone running the Ivy Studio demo.

    Hey I just picked this up and it’s awesome, but it doesn’t support Single Pass Instanced rendering for VR.

    Any chance you could provide support for Single Pass Instanced rendering?

    Hi,

    I just saw the review on the Ivy Studio system.

    Unfortunately i don't have VR hardware and shaders are extremely complex code, conversion to VR single pass could take months of extra development and I don't have the means to do that right away.

    This is why i explicitly state that the system has not been tested on VR, it is in the Technical details in the asset description, so that there is no misconception that the asset supports VR.

    That said, I plan to try to support VR later when i have enough to time to do the complete remake for that specific platform, as there is nothing similar to multi pass and is an extremely complex procedure and coding to make it work correctly in single pass and for 3 different pipelines, so I cant promise a date for that.

    I cant speak about other developers and how they make their own assets work in VR, but I had worked 2 weeks to make something else work in Single Pass Instanced and nothing worked, Unity documentation was not enough for that also and very cryptic.

    Essentially could definitely be months of extra work for that mode. Also would be great if you may point me to the mentioned documentation, so i can try that one maybe, perhaps there has been some update to that one that i had missed when i did the previous VR tries.

    Since you did a honest mistake and missed the asset description, I would be glad to refund the asset since you cannot use it.

    Let me know for the refund and for anything else. I would also please ask to revise the review if possible, given the fact that the non VR support was actually mentioned in the details and description of the package.

    Also note that the system in general is very versatile, you could use other shaders maybe that are directly compatible with VR or perhaps I could adapt the HDRP shader graph shader to URP (i dont know what is needed in your case), I can definitely work with you to try adapt the asset for VR, i would need to understand the requirements to proceed. E.g. which pipeline is needed, which Unity version etc

    Hey, first of all kudos for the great work!

    Did you or anyone else experiment with letting the ivy grow on a deformable or movable mesh and letting the ivy deform or bend accordingly?

    Hi, i dont think this would work as the mesh is created rigidly based on the mesh state and wont move after that.

    In InfiniGRASS system i have a method that can register the grass per planted object and then follow it, but with Ivy that same method would not work, as Ivy interfaces multiple objects at the same time, so would be a question of which object to follow, in the general case.

    Single Pass Instanced VR - URP Pipeline




    Single Pass Instanced VR - Standard Pipeline

    Ivy Studio work on Single Pass Instanced VR compatibility for the Standard Pipeline, the system has been confirmed to be working in an actual device. Also the Single Pass Instanced VR compatibility for the URP Pipeline has been tested and works in MockHMD emulator.

    Same grower, different Ivy properties applied in each stroke.


    Planting around objects using the new confine per Layers Ivy planting option

    Ivy Studio work on testing various settings ivy strokes with same Ivy grower and on planting over hollow objects like trees and bushes, to emulate volume with minimal performance impact.

    Also a system to control the Ivy by layer has now been added, making the creation of the hollow objects possible, with full containment of the Ivy on the required object surface.

    Ivy Studio 1.0.7 work in progress, added spine based growth second version, which allows direct grow of vines on the spline at various offsets and in full combination with the gravity feature for casting the vines to ground if needed.

    Ivy Studio 1.0.9 - (Major upgrade)
    - Sanitized the 'Flower Chance' variable, this is a major upgrade and may be required to increase the chance from the lower 0.055 default to 0.5 for half chance for flowers and to one or more for extra flower counts.
    - Fixed an issue where the 'Flower Divide' did not lower the leaf count, this variable may also require an extra tweaking after this change, e.g. make higher if need to get lower leaf and flower counts.
    - Added new demo showing more detailed 2D branch option (smaller branch part scale with more steps)
    - Added new gradual growth system over a spline and a very optimized fast mode for this module.
    - Added gradual growth system over a spline demos
    - Added prefab of Ivy generator and demo, showcasing prefab creation and use of the Ivy system.
    - Added an extra check for leaves, so wont be created if the distance to previous is less than a threshold of 4cm, for making sure the system does not create overlapping leaves.
