Hello all! We recently released our first game, called Luna and the Moonling, on Steam (PC/Mac/Linux)!

With a unique spin on classic adventure gameplay, Luna and the Moonling stars two unlikely friends that must work together to solve a mystery and save their kingdom. Inspired by some of the greatest adventure puzzle classics, Luna and the Moonling provides hours of mind-bending puzzles.

Don't let the cute looks fool you though, it's not a kids game and gets very challenging!

Thank you! It looks cute, but it ramps up. Some streamers have been calling it the "Dark Souls" of puzzle games! :D

Our creative director is making a video now showing the custom editor tools for making our levels that we built inside Unity. Hopefully we can post that soon.

Hmm, so the visuals are very appealing to 'casual' puzzle players, but the difficulty ramps up quickly making it appealing to a more hardcore audience.
Do you think the game will be appealing to a more casual audience or more hardcore audience?

Do you think maybe the visuals will dissuade a more hardcore audience while the difficulty causes less hardcore players to be not interested?

BTW - I love the visuals, from an artist perspective. Reminds me of the skylander style.

I don't think puzzle players will mind the cute graphics at all. They are a little different breed. If you've played casual puzzle games, no one usually minds if they get tough as long as it's fair. But anyway, think of popular puzzle games like World of Goo, Snail Bob, etc, and you'll see that the graphics fit fine with the genre, and those games can be tough at times.

    Thanks for the feedback!

You're right that the puzzles get very challenging. Some have even been calling it the "Dark Souls of puzzle games" that have been playing the later levels. That said though we tried very hard to make a game that would have a broad appeal for a more casual/modern puzzle gamer, but also reward the more old school hardcore gamer with challenging puzzles. One example is that we spend more time on-boarding players to the core mechanics early on where the more hardcore gamer might be ready to get to the hard stuff sooner- but we DO ramp it up and get pretty challenging! We also try very hard to make the game always seem fair and any mistakes the player makes they feel are their fault instead of the game punishing them (which is just good game design for any target group).

I think on the PC we have seen a little bit of dismissal of those dismissing the game just based on the cute looks (or, unfortunately, even just from the fact it has a female protagonist of color), but word is spreading about the game itself and we hope gamers can get over that. We are proud of our look though and hope gamers will spread the word about the quality of the game and its gameplay. We also plan to port to consoles and even mobile eventually once the PC/Mac version is finished and our "look" should do better in those markets we think.

Also, it is funny you mention Skylanders. Some members of the team have worked on Skylanders in the past. :)

We're hard at work putting the final touches on the new levels shipping with our next build of Luna and the Moonling! The new build will be out very soon now and have 15 new levels, performance and graphical improvements, and new puzzle mechanics for our most challenging levels yet!

Get the game today on Steam at a discount while in early access and see why some players have already been calling it the "Dark Souls" of puzzle games!

There's a typo in your first trailer on about 16 seconds - "Gamplay".
The art overall looks amazing and cute although it's a bit dark. Balance the colors a bit maybe?
Maybe add a fake screen effects would make it more beautiful. (JP devs love to do this.:p)
The difficulty seems really challenging. Hope players won't get crazy.:D
What means "Moon + ling"? Sorry to ask this, I'm not a native English speaker.
    Keep it up.;)

    Thanks for the feedback!

Moonlings are magic creatures that will appear in times of need to help others. One of the main characters in the game you play is a Moonling (the furry thing with the antlers). You use both Luna and her Moonling friend together to solve the puzzles (they each have unique abilities).

Update - We're hard at work finishing up a FREE unlockable bonus quest for all our players called "Desert Barrens" that will offer new, challenging levels in a whole new location and continue the story of Luna and the Moonling! Here is a work-in-progress screenshot from one of the new levels:
