Hello everybody! I am here to announce my participation in Ludum Dare's October Challenge for this year!

This year, for October Challenge, I decided to go for a space/heist/stealth/platformer. Sounds complicated, right? Well, after about a week of development, counting the 3-4 days it took me to fix a particularly annoying bug, I have a little bit to show off!

For one, I'm happy to show the beautiful ability to jump between small planets (Planet art subject to change!), shoot, and blow your enemies off the face of their little asteroid-like planet-things. The enemies that you will be going up against (I currently only have one of them implemented) have convenient view cones for you to avoid or happily jump into at your discretion.

As for interesting mechanics, well, my favorite so far is the ability to change direction/momentum in the air by firing your trusty (and possibly stolen) gun.

Here I have some GIFs to show what the game looks like at this moment so early in development. (You may have to click on the GIFs to open them!)

Thank you guys for checking this out, and I wish you luck in your own game dev adventures.

I voted yes. I think this looks like an interesting concept.
Suggestion - If the player jumps into open space and needs to shoot to propel them back onto a planet, I don't think they should be able to shoot into the side of the screen, only into other planets. It's assumed beyond the bounds of the screen its only open space. :)

Why would that be? the energy released by the blaster is what propels him, not what it hits. Anyway, cool concept!

Agreed, equal and opposite reactions and all that. Also agree with the other comments - nice concept!

Doh! I was sleepy - though the gif looks like the reaction doesn't happen until after the projectile has hit something instead of it happening right away.

Well, it does take multiple shots to change momentum very much.
