Low Poly Wind

Discussion in 'Shaders' started by Deleted member 1123102, Nov 6, 2017.

  1. Hey everyone. I had a thread in WIP and recently found out about this sub and decided it'd be appropriate to post here.

The Low Poly Wind is a vertex shader made to replicate the movement of trees with a small breeze.
I'll let you see for yourself:

    FEATURE LIST

Control over vertex movement on all axes

    Height Threshold

Trunk Color Recognition and Settings (Single Mesh)

    Official trailer

    WIP - An experimental feature

    Feedback is appreciated

    Looks cool!
But I see a small issue here - trees bend from the trunk, while in these demos it's just the leaves that move. This is clearly visible on the birch trees in the trailer on a 44th second. Adding a low-frequency trunk bending should add a lot of visual fidelity to the package. Interestingly enough - palm trees look good even without this trunk bending.
So please keep up your great work.

  3. You can also bend the trunk. Just tick a bool and set its speed. It uses the same vector as the leaves, so it moves in the same direction :)

Can you post a video example of that? That would be cool and will possibly be a deal-maker for quite a few people (like me)

  5. I'm on my phone right now, but it should be in one of the feature videos in this post.

Really cool. I will probably use this in a future project!
