    Hi everyone,

    Name is KzD,

Im currently working with a Script-er named Dave creating a New FPS Horror Game.

Im mainly doing the level design and modeling.

As of now I have 3 levels in the making,
Im using Cinema 4D R12 to create models, buildings and parts of scenes and then would like to properly import them into Unity.
Ive done this exact thing from scetch-up pro and it seems to work, however with C4D there's so much more detail control.
Im in the process of learning C4D so im not a pro at it yet.

I am currently working on a "Jail" scene and have 3 cells side by side with bars, bunks, sink, bench and toilet per cell.
All Textures and when rendering in C4D it looks great.
    No animations yet.
Problem is when exporting files from C4D and then importing them into Unity I am asking 2 things.

    1. What is the best procedure to create the smallest file type before exporting without loosing lots of quality?
In other words combining meshes and whatnot, im really just creating the "background" basically in C4D,
Not really movable parts except maybe doors and stuff.
Im brand new to this stuff. I can design but dont understand the compression or combination/consolidation of
    models.

    2. Also the textures don't seem to come through into Unity?
What is a good process for this?

    Im using a new

iMac i3 Intel processor 3.06 GHz
    OS 10.6.8
    4 GB or Ram

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Files are available for viewing if needed.

do you then re apply the textures in Unity? and How do you export the material separately out of C4D?

KzD I doubt its much Different then when I import from blender in the sense of after I import then I import the Texture the Object has a Material assigned it but you need to place its proper texture in the texture spot. Example if I imported a Cube that I had textured as a box. Then I imported the Texture. In Unity I would click the box and find its Material. Then in it I may set it to Diffuse or Bumped Diffuse then that will show a spot for a texture and a Bump Texture. Just take the texture and move it over the box and you have now applied it in Blender. Since Unity remembers the UVLayout it should look fine.

    thankyou both for the info,

As far as consolidation to models and such do you have any advice?
In other words whats the best procedure to make a complex model a small easy file size, given it has little to no moving or intractable parts?

Try to keep it as low polly as you can. If it has no moving parts don't use any Armature. If it does use only what is needed. Also best thing is to look up on Google 3D modeling Tutorials On Making Game objects using any Software since you really are focusing on Making Game models. Not all will be the greatest but if you find a good amount you should get a good idea of what will work best.

heres a question for ya then, the polys are minimal and I understand they are more complex. is there a way to slice into a Primitive object without using the Boole?
or extrude off a standard cube, just in a section?

Not sure exactly what you are asking.
