Hi, my name is Alex and I am currently embarking on a lofty goal of redefining what indie mmo content is.

With the likes of SoTA winning an indie award at E3, it began to change my feelings towards the term completely as I new projects like Project Gorgon embody the term indie at its truest sense. I came up with a website called www.trueindiemmo.com that will showcase and spotlight true indie development, albeit along will all indie content. My website will feature larger indie games as well, that you don't see on the large sites. Think GRAV, Savage Lands etc.

It becomes a difficult job when you place all "Indie" content on the table and try to decipher what indie is. My website will mention and support any indie development, like Camelot Unchained, SoTA, Crowfall but it will be a mere dusting to the coverage I truly want to see small true indie mmos receive. Hopfully from this approach we can eventually change the perception of what indie is today.

I recently (Friday) interviewed Dan Uber, lead on Hubris that is being made with unity 3d and am truly inspired even more. I can guarantee no one at mmorpg.com or massivelyop.com have heard of this.
I think following and showcase these projects as features and not just entries into a database is important for the mmo genre. As people truly start understanding that the large companies trying to make as much money as Blizzard has, are never going to succeed. They will then see that there is truly small scale quality indie projects out there, why not give one of them some attention!

I hope to hear about some up and coming projects. Thanks,

    Alex aka Notyeti

Great idea for a website! I skimmed through the articles and I like it a lot. I have bookmarked it for further reading. Thanks for doing this. There are a lot of small games out there that just don't get any attention among the big companies that are trying to jump on the "indie" bandwagon.

I'm a client/server programmer, and environment artist on Project Gorgon. I'm glad to see it starting to get so much great press. I'm currently using the tech on my game Legends of Etherell, and another project, Valiance Online. We too are working on an indie network called SHOGN to showcase indie titles. It's great to see others doing the same, so please keep up the great work, and drop me a line if you ever need with anything.
