Looking for good tutorials for beginners

I just finished Ruby's adventure 2D tutorial. A very good tutorial for beginners. But it doesn't tell you how to create 2D screens saying you won or how to determine if you have won (like all the enemies are destroyed). Some tutorials have that already set up and you just use what is provided. I need a tutorial that tells you how to do it from scratch. Any suggestions of thorough tutorials on the subject?

Yeah, Google is my friend but there are dozens of tutorials, and some suck. I was hoping to get some feedback on which ones others found to be informative and useful.
