I am having the following issue:

    • A single .blend file is not being imported correctly by Unity.
    • The file appears as this in the project window:

    • The .blend is generated by version 2.76b. All other 2.76b files import as expected.
    • Other .blend files with similar setups function as intended.
    • This happened after a retopo.
    • There are 2197 total faces in the scene
    • The .blend appears completely empty and blank in Unity
    • There are no errors in the Console window.
    • Exporting to FBX/Obj works correctly.
    • Tried opening in a new Unity Project
    • Tried creating a new .blend an Appending my rig and mesh.
    • There are no "Exotic" modifiers on anything
    • Tried adding the Triangulate modifier
    • Tried removing the Armature modifier
    • Does this exact behavior on both OSX and Windows versions of Unity.
    • Does this in both Pro and Standard versions of Unity
    • Unity seemingly does not even attempt to begin the import/conversion process
    • Has the following elements: Mesh, Plane, Armature
    • After deleting the Mesh, it will import as usual, but sadly I need the mesh!

I've been working with Blender and Unity for almost 2 years now and have never had an issue like this.

For reference, here is a functioning .blend file in the same project. Exact same setup:

I wanted to help you, but something else is going on there. My Blender won't open it. I'm running 2.75, and double clicking the file results in Blender opening then closing, while opening from an open Blender results in a Blender crash as well. Maybe something happened when you zipped it up. I tried a second download with the same results. I also unblocked it via the file's property's security tab.

I'm also noticing that the file is pretty highly compressed somehow. The file is only 404KB zipped, but 2.43MB extracted. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like a lots to me.

    I'm on Blender 2.76.
It zipped correctly, as I can still open the one that is extracted.

    UPDATE:
After assigning a material, the model appears to work.
This is an unusual behavior that I've not seen before.

Other .blend files with no materials work correctly.

Yup, I forgot that I still needed to update my Blender, and it then opened just fine. I too could not find anything wrong with it. And generally if I forget to create any material Unity deals with that just fine. Maybe it has something to do with an update in Blender or Unity, as both of them have been updated somewhat recently. I have a habit of applying materials automatically to models, don't know exactly where I got it from, so I never ran into this problem.

In any case, I'm glad you got things working.

This is an unacceptable bug in Unity.
I'll leave the file up there for them to see what's broken and what you have to do to "fix" it.

Maybe you can report it as a bug through the bugreporter? Don't know if it's the approriate place, but it might be more efficient than leaving it sitting out here :)

I'm just starting out in Blender, so I can't help you.
