Does the "StreamingAssets" folder have to be at the location: Assets/StreamingAssets/ within the unity project? I was hoping I could move it in the same way as "Plugins" and "Resources" folders can be. Ideally I'd like to have multiple sets of "StreamingAssets" in different folders (eg. Assets/Client/StreamingAssets and Assets/Core/StreamingAssets).

From my attempts it seems like you can't move the location of the folder, the unity manual is a little vague just saying "Any files placed in a folder called StreamingAssets (case-sensitive) in a Unity project" (https://docs.unity3d.com/560/Documentation/Manual/StreamingAssets.html) I had hoped this meant multiple folders were possible but if so it seems more complex that just adding an extra one, or moving the existing one.

    Is it just not possible?

Old post, but would love to be able to do that also and have it in a nested folder in my Assets and not at the top level of the Assets directory. A lot of the other "special" folders support it (Editor, Plugins...: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/SpecialFolders.html)

Agreed with Bailywick, would be a nice feature to support.

It seems that the StreamingAssets folder must be under Assets and we can't have it in other locations...why? It would be amazing for plugin developers, so we don't need to tell the user to create a StreamingAssets folder and move the files there.
