    Hi,

I have used the old Plastic SCM in the past which had a local server installed by default. Now I installed the new Unity Devops Version Control (which as I understood is the same software but rebranded), but there seems to be no local server.
Was this feature removed or can I enable it somehow? It was really useful for local backups of entire repositories.

How did you download it? The official (PlasticSCM-)download page still lists a Full installer, a Client installer, and a Server installer. You'll either need the Full installer, or also install the Server installer.

Previously I was using the standard cloud edition which I installed from this overview https://www.plasticscm.com/download which provided a local server.
Now when I opened the Unity Version Control window in a Unity project, Unity itself downloaded an installer, but I don't know which version that is. It is called Unity DevOps Version Control (v11.0.16.7974) and there is no local server.

I found a client installer in the Unity Dashboard under DevOps/ Help&Support, maybe I installed that one? However there is only one installer, so no choice what to install.

Because of its new name I am not sure about the compatibility with the "old" version and I don't want to run into compatibility issues in the future, especially if I install additional components from the plastic scm website.

It's 100% compatible, it's merely a name change, especially if you use the external client.
If you use the Editor-embedded "Version Control" plugin/package instead, it is again still the same software, and will/should also work with a local server (although I don't use it, so never tested it).

Hi @dan07, a rebranding/name change has happened but internally the product is the same. It means the Cloud edition installer still includes a local server to host your local repos:

There are no incompatibility issues with previous versions. Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Hi @carlosalba1985
I uninstalled the version that got downloaded by Unity and installed the cloud edition from the plasticscm website, but it looks exactly the same and there is still no local server.
Although, in the installer both client and server were checked (and greyed out, so could not uncheck anyway). The installer for the cloud edition I downloaded is named unity-vcs-11.0.16.8022-win.exe. I think it's the same version thats available from the unity dashboard.

Btw, the Mac and Windows download options in the Unity dashboard are swapped.

    Hi, let's try the following:

    1. Unity install Unity Version Control Cloud / Plastic Cloud edition:

    2. Delete the following files:
    C:\Program Files\PlasticSCM5\server\plasticd.lic
    C:\Program Files\PlasticSCM5\server\server.conf
    C:\Program Files\PlasticSCM5\server\netowkr.conf

    3. Install install Unity Version Control / Plastic Cloud edition: https://www.plasticscm.com/download

If you previously had an Enterprise installation of the product, the configuration will be kept even if you later install the Cloud edition. You will need to manually delete the configuration files to properly install the Plastic Cloud edition.

If the issue persists, please reach us at devops-vcs-support@unity3d.com and we can arrange a meeting with you to debug it.

    This did not work either.
However, I reinstalled it again and deleted the whole C:\Program Files\PlasticSCM5 folder and the AppData\Local\plastic4 folder, which made it work. I had to download my repositories again, but now the local server shows up in the client.

    Thanks for your help!

I am still wondering which version got downloaded by Unity though.

Thanks for the update. Could you include a screenshot of how you originally installed the tool? I want to be sure I understand the process you followed.

I opened the Unity Version Control window in a Unity project before I installed the uvcs client. A window appeared in the editor that said I have not installed the client and there was a download button for the client.
