Question Load Default Layout looping error, can't open editor

    What is this and why is it a thing, and how do I fix it?

    Then, how do I prevent it ever happening again?

    The pop up looks like this:

    No option works.

    Even Quitting CRASHES Unity, and then the crash reporter crashes.

    There are no compile errors in the project(s) I'm trying to open. None get past this ridiculously uninformative popup.

    Load Default Layout loops back to this pop up.

    Revert Factory Settings loops back to this pop up.

    What kind of problem is this that it loops forever? How to fix?
