Load assetbundle from other platform

    For some reason the Unity Editor lets you load an assetbundle built for any platform. This is great for testing models that have been exported to a range of platforms.

    BUT you can not make a standalone build that does the same because then you can only load a standalone version of the assetbundle. Any way around that?!

    I think that's the ability for Unity Editor only?

    yeah runtime for it probably missing otherwise - but if you deal with a lot of assetbundles it sure would be useful to custom code a viewer that works with all as editor does

    For what it's worth, there are issues loading asset bundles for other platforms. At least, testing a really basic mac bundle on a win64 machine showed up numerous shader and lighting issues for me. That said, I have a new asset store asset coming out shortly (I hope) that makes bundle management really easy and retargeting to check different bundle platforms just a couple of clicks. Not sure how useful that is unto itself, but it's one capability of my asset.
