Livalink is NOW LIVE on Desura!
    http://www.desura.com/games/livalink

Hello my forum friends! I think its about time i started getting serious with one of my projects! Over the past year i have been working hard creating a single-player (hopefully multiplayer one day) first-person shooter Livalink, or previously known as RELIC. I have posted all the details about the game below so be sure to give it a quick read!

I have just recently submitted to Greenlight and would appreciate any feedback!

NOTE: Livalink is still in development, most content you currently see is not a final version and will continue to be improved.

Livalink is an action-pact science fiction first-person shooter that combines the gameplay elements of todays popular shooters. You will experience unique game modes, weapons, abilities and other enjoyable functionalities from a science fiction setting.

    Background:
Years of exploration and research have discovered what was once, and wished was still unknown. The discovery of a new race known as 'the Progeny' proved violent and reckless, retracing the breadcrumbs of our ventured exploitations back home. Set in a far fetched future, you play as a Reinforced Intergalactic Livalink Trooper (RILT), a special operations organisation involved in the Livalink project (A teleportation transfer system from one point to another, Live Instant Vector Apport Link).

    Gameplay:
Throughout every game-mode, the players RILT unit will earn credits and experience determined by performance used to upgrade, unlock, and activate. Depending on the selected mode as you progress through endless waves the progeny enemies will become much more intelligent and stronger, keeping you entertained. You will find yourself indulged in determination to achieve the highest score possible and compare it amongst your friends.

Recently been working on some interior design using some assets i made previously, still playing around with the light mapping but i think it looks nice. I also made a borderlands inspired pistol which is also featured in the screenshot.

Edit: Worked on a new melee opponent, i wanted something tall and lanky with a fear factor to some extent. I had no concepts at the time, it was rather spontaneous.

    WOW

I remember playing Relic a few months ago, and it was amazing even back then. Glad to see you've made fantastic progress!

edit: I must note the landscape looks stellar. What effects did you use?

The game looks great, the guns remind me of Crysis (in older versions it reminded me of the original Halo both are nice) I like that you tried to add a fear factor to the some of the enemies. I'm a huge horror fan so adding fear factors to stuff is just awesome. I can't wait to see the complete game.

Love your hud. How did you arrange the graphics to construct it, and not have them stretch?

Just some feedback: The ambient light is to much in your indoor environments. Makes it look very flat and 1990's-ish. Go into your render settings(I think?) and change the ambient to black, then try to get ambient light manually with point lights in the environment that are set to either not-important render mode or lightmap only. Tends to give better results as there is more contrast, imo. Use your own judgement, of course.

Wow, DEFINITELY an improvement. In my opinion, you should go even farther though, there are very few areas of dark, contrasting lighting. Also, I think you should try some brighter/more contrasting colors. Obviously don't go to far (Dungeon Defenders, anyone?) but perhaps throw in some blue areas to contrast with the yellow/orange feel in your shots currently.

The blood splat sound effect when the human characters die are very recognizable. It feels like a heard it in a lot of other games/movies.

Wanted to work on creating a whole pack of guns for my project. Today i made a simple rifle based of a small scribble concept i did a while ago, the back half of the gun's texture was rushed, just wanted to get it in game and try it out.

Sure did, i agree but thats mainly due to the low poly character. Nothing i can really do about it when having hundreds on screen, although im thinking about re designing that horrible arm blade :)

    Another timelapse :)

Created a new concept with a more robotic feel. It was a collaboration of Iron Man, General Grievous, Zero, and Alien. The head might need changing as its to iconic.

Voted for it on Greenlight. I love the artwork, but the AI could definitely use some work. Maybe some movement left or right so they don't line up for perfect headshots? Otherwise, I'm excited to see where you go with this, and I'll definitely stay updated on your progress!

I definitely agree, although the last weeks development was primarily focused on this similar behaviour. I'l bring out a video showcasing this in the coming days, thanks for the feedback.

    Hey,
Did you design/model those interiors/corridors yourself? I'm looking for someone for a sci-fi project...

This looks great man! very cool.
Only feedback I have is that the the texture work could definatly use some shading itself to make it really pop out more, they look a bit flat at the moment i think.

Heres an example of a gun texture i made a while ago:

You could also look into some nice hard surface shaders with reflections etc, that would be perfect for all the architecture you got around.
If you get all that going the visuals would definatly benefit and pop out more! :)

I know what you mean but its more the artstyle i've chosen, nothing to do with laziness or lack of care. I'm going for a semi realistic/cartoonish feel. Thanks for the feedback though.

Limitations? And would it be too much to ask for some numbers? I'm interested to see how other devs are doing, especially since you are 2nd most popular on indieDB.
