Well I like the style. I think there's enough proof out there that a game doesn't have to have incredible graphics to be a great game. Sometimes it's the simple, slick, well-executed ones that are the best... so it looks like you're on your way with 2 out of 3. Now if you can pull off the execution with some great gameplay, you'll have something :)

Finally someone who realises you don't need flashy graphics to have a good game. Thanks

Don't let the haters get to you. "Flappy bird" is a very basic game and it has the top download spot on ios and android right now. If you can execute your game well it may have a good future.

There are some two color game mechanics on this page: http://www.squidi.net/three/index.php some of them are really interesting. Just don't get sucked into reading all of the mechanics and not work on your game.

What i have decided to do is if the player presses the "B" key the background goes black and if the "W" key is pressed then the screen goes white so it adds a bit of puzzle to the game i will try to get a demo of this as soon as possible

I'm going to have to change the name of the game because my gameplay mechanic doesn't fit it because the instead of the background changing the cube's colour changes.
    Any suggestions would be helpful

The truth is, a lot more people prefer graphics that are appealing, something that makes the game really stand out and drags your attention to it.
It doesnt have to be some crazy amazing art thats next gen or anything, it could be very simple, simple yet appealing.

But the above statement is also true, no you dont need fancy graphics to have a good game. But if there is no appeal in the graphics then the success of the game relies all on gameplay and mechanics. The game "Thomas Was Alone" is a good example of this. I thought of thomas was alone right now because your game is a game about squares/ cubes as well? However, thomas was alone had unique appealing gameplay. It also had a story line. The cube had a character and personality. So although the game was only cubes, there was a lot of other things that drove its success and made it a unique game despite its lack in the graphics department.

Im not saying anything about your game because you have very little info posted and a single screenshot. (I will admit your graphic style is not appealing to me at all at the moment but it sounds like you want to focus more on the gameplay and mechanics itself and that is perfectly ok.)
This is obviously very early in its development and it has a lot of time to turn into a successful game. Im sure you will have more to show down the road as you work through the game. Don't get demotivated by other peoples comments or my comment if I said anything you didn't really like. I think the most important thing is that you finish the game. Finish it and that would be excellent because not many people ever finish games they started. So keep up the progress on this and good luck man. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I do see your point that the graphics need to be good and appealing. but before i redesign the aesthetics of the game i have to get the basic mechanics of the game done first if you look at the post below there is a new image of the main menu its still a wip but i just to see what people think of it

Nooo...I made a WIP game called Blue Box a year ago, so do the blue box genre justice and make this game awesome.
    Here's the link: http://blueboxin.blogspot.com.au/
Oh well, for the style of game it looks like you're going into, I highly recommend using the game, Thomas is not alone as a reference. Just the style, check it out.
With that said, good luck on your project.
