    tl;dr
Copy paste for password does not work, need to type it letter by letter
    Context
Using KeyPass to generate and store secure passwords.
To use Unity I need to login with Unity account.
    Priority
    • Low
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. OS: Ubuntu 15.10
    2. Download unity: http://download.unity3d.com/download_unity/unity-editor-5.1.0f3+2015082501_amd64.deb
    3. Launch Unity, it will ask for User name and Password
    4. Copy text from gedit/KeyPass or other Linux program
    5. Try to paste it into Password field
    Expected result:
    • CTRL+V should paste text from clipboard
    • SHIFT+Insert should paste text from clipboard
    • Right mouse click should show popup/context-menu with Paste item/button.
    Actual result:
    • None of the above works, so I need to type letter by letter with keyboard

Tested unity-editor 5.1.0f3 with current archlinux, same problem.

Both the login name and the password field do not seem to support copy/paste.

I'm trying to sign-in but the input fields won't accept any keypress for me, although they do highlight when clicked :(

I have to computers with the same version installed, Desktop works fine :) but labtop has this issue, after a few attempts i manage to log in but Arrow keys dont work during play mode so you cant any of your work. I unattached the game tap same issue, build the game and executed same problem. :( so bypassing the login issue will bring you more issues :(

Same problem on 5.4, Ubuntu 15.10.

Worse, I can't input text in the login dialog box for the asset store.

Just ran into the same issue, with the latest Unity Editor.

I use a password manager, so typing this in by hand was no fun :(

I'm having the same, running Gentoo Linux with KDE5.

Especially fun since I use GUIDs as passwords :)

Same problem under Arch, using i3 desktop manager.

I'm not typing my 30+ character password out by hand.

I guess I just will use UE until this is fixed.

You can always try to use a combination of sleep and xdotool type "password" to type in the password automatically as a workaround.

But this should not be needed nonetheless.

This has always happened in lubuntu I use. Solution for me get a hol of the window , top bar, wobble it vigorously, the click on line and I can type. Some times it takes 4 or 5 wobbles. It sounds crazy but it works.

    Still the same for me.

I think it's safe to say if it's been this way for more than three years, then nobody cares and it won't get fixed. It wouldn't be so bad if it stayed logged in across application restarts, but of course it doesn't.

My solution is just use a weak password for my unity account, which is totally fine.
