Coming from Unity 4 to 5 I've noticed a lot of changes, one I'm not sure if it's just me or others too is this:

I've tried disabling Ambient Light, Directional Light, fog and more but for some reason I have this nasty looking black shade over my player models (Doesn't seem to effect the blue cube in the picture), sometimes the terrain goes all black too and there's a white fog I can't seem to get rid of either. Can anyone help?

I'm a new to Unity but I think fog can be turned on and off via the Windows->Lighting menu selection

Could it be some kind of light mapping? You might want to clear all the light maps just to see what happens. You could also try changing the smoothing angle in the settings of the model.

I had fog turned off, even tried with it on but I managed to solve it somewhat, the issue was due to Ambient Intensity being at 1 and the directional light being high too.
