Has anyone tried using gile with Unity?

    FYI here's a link to gile: http://www.frecle.net/giles/

As far as I can tell, the only format gile has in common with Unity is 3ds, although apparently gile can now export to Maya.

It's one of the nicest lightmapping tools I've seen (written in Blitz3D, I believe). While I like some of the stuff I've seen done with Unity, light maps are still a very useful tool for producing good looking static 3d content.

I used it quite a bit in my Blitz MAx days and it does a good job of lighting, however there is no easy way to get the output in to Unity as far as I can see (also Gile itself it PC based). I didn't see any Maya obvious Maya conduit.

AFAIK, gile has plugin SDK that allows you to write custom exporters/importers. Maybe someday someone would make a collada exporter for gile?

Have you tried to contact fredborg directly about this?

Searched for your name and couldn't find anything. But didn't you meant Blitz3D instead of BlitzMax?

Sounds like Unity 1.5 has beaten this issue to death ;)
