So are there exceptions for licensing? I want to use Unity to build some 3D rooms for a company I work for. It's not a gaming company, but I assume that is irrelevant. Would I still have to license the product if I'm only using it for making 3d rooms and getting image shots from it? The company does make over the suggested amount to license the product.
Its not a suggested amount. Its a license requirement. Your company will need to get you a professional license. The industry the company is in is irrelevant. This does make Unity a less attractive option for large companies that don't want to sell games. In pure licensing costs there are other engines that might suit your use case better.
If you are only looking for still shots, you would probably be better off using a 3D modeling program instead anyway. Blender is free. If later you decide that you want to be able to walk around the room, you can import the model you created in Blender (or other modelling program) into Unity (or other game engine).
