License error - Unity beta 2017.1.0b8

    Previous betas worked fine.

    However with the new beta 8 I get a License Error when I start up unity.
    I tried going through the license setup process but I can't get past this screen:


    Pressing the "Next" button does nothing.

    Can't say I had an issue, but in the past if a beta ever had a borked licensing screen I could usually go into one of the other versions of Unity on my computer validate and then the beta was also happy.

    Haven't tested the solution above, but I encountered the same issue yesterday.

    Having the same problem. Cannot start Unity 2017.1.0b8 now....

    Same here. I was able to roll back to beta 6 and have it validate my license again.

    Ah, yeah that worked. I used 5.6.x to validate and now 2017.1.0b8 works again. Thanks for the tip.

    To add a little more context for how I got the error: I had one project open and was creating a new one. 2017.1.0b8 crashed instead of creating the new project, and then when I restarted, it asked for me to reactivate the license, which I tried to do, and as noted above, it just sits there doing nothing after hitting Next.

    Just adding my experience.

    I installed the 2017.1.0b8 version and opened the 2d roguelike example project. I closed the application as I was heading out. When I tried to open it again later I had the exact same issue as leeholl

    I re-installed 5.6.x, re-activated the license and it worked

    I can confirm with everyone else that 2017.1.0b8 personal doesn't retrieve nor re-activate the license, but did work after launching 5.6.x (on macOS in my case).

    It's annoying that I have to install to 5.6.x to activate the license. I have now a bad internet connection to do so. :\
    Unity support? Please give a comment about that for us.

    No workaround. You have to install lower version and activate from there.

    Same problem...
    • installed beta
    • stuck on license
    • installed stable build
    • activate license
    • re-install beta, cuz stable versions overwrite it.

    Sorry for the inconvenience you've been experiencing with the license activation with b8. A fix was deployed to the servers on June 5th. Please let me know if you are still seeing the issue.

    The problem persists on my end. I did the whole install older switcharoo thingy yesterday. Saved a tutorial I was doing yesterday-night, was going to open it again now, was greeted by this: Unity_reactivate.png

    Yep I'm getting this now on Unity 2017.1.0b9 - I restarted Unity and it now says "License is not for this version of Unity". I re-activate using my valid serial number which it "ticks" as correct. Clicking next does absolutely nothing.

    I have also tried to use Unity Personal to see if that works, and it does the same thing... selecting next does nothing. Will now download 5.6 and try the workaround...

    EDIT - can confirm activating on 5.6 works OK

    Confirmed still an issue here on b9. b8 seems to be fine to activate on if you leave it installed with b9.

    Although I've received an Email from Unity stating the issue was fixed on their server end, I've encountered the same behavior for 2017.1.0b9 and had to drag my 5.6.x from my trash and relaunch it to activate my personal license for b9.

    I ran into this issue with Unity 2017.1.b09 a few minutes ago. I was able to record a video and copy the Editor.log files of that session.

    Ah... Well, I'm running Linux (I'm special like that :p), we don't get full service like you corporate types.
