Lens Flares in Unity 2019.3.0f6

    It seems lens flares no longer appear in Unity. I've had a google and seen a lot of posts from the past year of so complaining of lens flares not working anymore, in the HWRP, LWRP, default render pipeline, everything.

    I've also seen people saying that the feature is completely deprecated, to the point that it's still in the editor but... doesn't work at all?

    Can someone confirm if lens flares are actually gone or not? And if so, does anyone know of any good substitutes? (I imagine it's quite easy to make our own, but it's great if there's already resources for it)

    They are still there, and should work, at least in the built-in render pipeline.

    I think we removed the Flare Layer from newly created Cameras. It used to be added by default with each new Camera. You need to add it manually if you want flares (this was done because I believe we are moving to a Post-Processing-based flare solution for URP/HDRP, but I dont know any more details about that.)

    Anyway hopefully that solves your problem for the built-in pipeline. Let us know if you need more details about lens flares in the new render pipelines, and maybe someone will be able to provide a better answer than me for that. :)

    sooooo....
    How do we do these now in URP? Seems that Post Processing based flares aren't yet implemented, and the lens flare component doesn't work, even with a flare layer added to the camera.

    (Even getting the example lens flares was hard, as they are in the deprecated Standard Assets)
    using 2020.1 and URP
