Lens Flare "Ignore Layers" not working

I created a demo project (https://www.dropbox.com/s/u8v8391jzgz0kou/Flare Bug.zip). In this demo what i think SHOULD be happening is this:

1) We have a lens flare
2) We have a socket that the light is in (a socket shaped mesh with a mesh colider on a layer called "LightSocket")
3) We want the socket to act like a real socket where it blocks the light from the side and back but not the front. (flare)
4) But we want ONLY the socket to effect the flare and nothing else. (

So we have the lens flare set to ignore all layers BUT the "Light Socket" Layer. But it doesn't work. It either shines through the socket, or does not show at all (depending n HOW you selected the layers in the mask).

the "ignore layers" thing seems really buggy..

It seems to be the problem that you should not ignore the layer the flare is on.

Todo:
1: Create layer "Light Socket"
2. Add the Light Socket object to the "Light Socket" layer
3. Add the lens flares to the "Light Socket" layer
4. Set lens flares ignore layers to everything exept the "Light Socket" layer
