At Leap Motion we just released a public beta for our new V2 Skeletal Tracking. V2 has a lot of improvements but the main difference is the tracking of full hands including all their joint and bone positions.

Since the tracking has improved so much and offered more data, we've released the new Leap Motion Skeletal Assets (for free) as a starting point if you want to setup a rigged hand or reach into and touch Unity's physics:

The sources for many of these demos are available in our Gallery. To run them you'll need a Leap Motion device (the hardware is the same) and our new V2 Tracking.

These assets are in beta and in active development, so if you have any feedback or feature requests let me know. :D

This a tremendous progress in comparison to the first version. The sceletal recognition is very precise and the overall performance is now much better then before.

    Thanks!

Yea, to use our SDK currently you need plugins, and to use plugins you need Unity Pro. :/
We have the ability to remove the dependency on plugins. It would require a bit of work but it would allow these assets to work in the free version of Unity and also in the Unity Webplayer. So, if there is enough demand for it in the coming weeks, we'll definitely move in plugin-less direction.

Cool, glad you like it :D
I'm the dev here that gets to make all the Unity examples so I'm having a good time. We're currently working on some VR stuff to pair along with Oculus and other head mounted displays. We'll have some demos and assets soon where you can mount a Leap to a HMD and track your hands from there.

Wow, Leap Motion rocks. I tried the Unity examples. They are awesome.
We would need similar technology for iOS. Are there any plans to make the hardware available for mobile platforms?

We are working on an sdk for android that's in alpha right now. Not sure what the plans are for iOS. If you want an early access android sdk let me know.

Is the SDK announced today the same version that was available last week? I've already integrated it into my Rift project and it works great! Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comment! Yes, it’s the same version. Last week was the soft launch, and today is the wider public announcement. Have you had a chance to try out top-down mode yet?

Let me know if you have any questions, we’re happy to be a resource as you keep building.

Looks like an updated SDK just came out with arm tracking! I haven't tried top-down mode yet with my DK1, was waiting for my DK2 but I think I need to get some duct tape out asap :)
