Large 3D World - Prevent runtime slowdown

    Hi All

    I am trying to find out techniques to prevent a large 3D world slowing down the game in runtime - does anyone have any ideas?

    I already know about LOD, and know that using the GPU could help as well - but have not seen any shader approaches that help.

    If anyone know anything then please let me know?

    Hi,first of all - using "Draw Instanced" option on terrains improves terrain rendering performance by using the GPU for heightmap rendering. Also splitting the terrain into smaller tiles can help you by offloading far away tiles. If you want to have a large open world, you might want to look into streaming solutions such as SECTR.
