laptop: unity engine/games not working correctly for unknown reasons

Hello. Unity does not run like it should on my laptop, despite an nvidia optimus directx 11 gpu.

Temperatures, available disk space, etc all seem good.

Yet for some reasons, Unity isn't working right.

Test results:
Unity Editor - Runs if either Intel GPU is used or Windows 7 compatibility mode is set

Poly Bride 1 & 2 - Only runs when forced to use Intel GPU
uFactory - Only runs with Windows 7 compatibility mode
Factory Town - Only runs with Windows 7 compatibility mode
Domino Sky - Doesn't run with any of the "fixes"


I am on Windows 8.1 64bit.
Any help would be appreciated.

 

Black screen, crash to desktop, bluescreen etc? You need to clarify what you mean by "isn't working right" in order for there to be any chance to get help. Proving your laptop specs would also be nice.

Do other games run fine? Can you find the crash log (if the issue is the games crashing)?

 

Any other games and software runs fine.
Unity however stops responding, then the engine/game crashes. (to desktop)

specs aren't great but should be fine for simple things like Poly Bridge
i7-5500, 8gb ram, 940m
