Kinect, Unity And Mac – Does It Work?

    Hi,

    Has anyone succesfully used Kinect and Unity on a Mac, and if so, how? Right now I'm using a Leap Motion sensor, but I would like to get the larger range of the Kinect.

    I'll be honest: you'll never get a Kinect working on a modern macOS, because the driver situation has changed significantly enough that whatever community drivers were authored in the Kinect's heyday aren't compatible today. It'll FEEL like they SHOULD be compatible but they AREN'T. I promise you.

    You can look at the Xbox 360 controller people and how many of their computers are killed by those drivers to see what lies ahead of you. You almost absolutely definitely should use a Windows virtual machine and use its USB forwarding feature if developing on a Mac is important to you.
