I know early versions of Kinect had trouble detecting people who were not standing and that would be a problem for people with disabilities, I heard that newer versions of Kinect are able to recognize them though.

Is is possible to make simple games for people on a wheelchair using Unity nowadays? Can anyone confirm if Kinect can detect someone that's not standing?

Also, is there any specific software or hardware I need (Kinect for Windows or updated versions)?

Free plugins recommendations would be awesome! ;D

Thanks for the fast answer. It looks like there's a Near Mode on Kinect for Windows only that detects only the upper body. So yea, I think it is possible.

Now I just want to know if anyone had actually used this for some feedback.
