jupiter bands on sphere

ok i need help with something im making a sci fi horror game and for the main menu and some parts for the game i wanna to make jupiter but i want the animated clouds i did find a gif of it but i dont think it will work on the sphere if you find a way to do this please let me know cause i want to make this game just like alien isolation

EDIT: Saw your Silent Hill WIP and it looks pretty good, why did you abandon the project?

 

cause i lost the files to it my laptop had a virus that wouldnt go away but maybe later i can try it again though

You should use version control. It saved my project lots of times

But to answer your question, I think you should know the basics and probably your question has been asked and answered before.

 

i know its sad but hey ill remake it soon but not right now lol

i was looking in the forums and answers i think i saw it somewhere i think they said to split the gif into PNGs and use a shader that can put it together in an animation but i havent figure out how to do that yet

 

Well that's a good start. FYI .gif images tend to be lower quality due to a limit of 256 colors which can reveal some pixels so it wouldn't be a good idea if it was possible.

 

true but is there a way to do the jupiter cloud bands with out the gif or something like the alien isolation main menu?
