    The only clue I find in such a small piece if logcat: are you building ARM64 only player and run it on device that only supports 32-bit?

    it was built for both 32 bit and 64-bit devices.

    What Unity version is this? Try unzipping the apk, and see if libil2cpp.so for arm is there

    I exported my unity project from 2020.2.2f1 and no libil2cpp.so is not there.

    That's expected if you do Export Project, libil2cpp.so is built when you invoke gradle build.

    That's why suggested to inspect apk itself.

    Any Solution?? In my old unity version 2019.4.8f1 when i export project, libil2cpp.so was generated under jni libs folder.But in 2020.3.2f1 it was not generated. Any clue?? is this expected??Thanks in advance

    It is expected, you must invoke gradle build, it will produce libil2cpp.so

    Thanks for the response. BTW im using unity as library for my existing Android native application. I already tried with these Android Studio -> Build -> make project, Build -> Rebuild Project. None produced "libil2cpp.so". Please point me in right direction.

    Maybe your main project gradle doesn't depend on unityLibrary, for ex., in Unity empty application launcher build.gradle has this

    You can try out one thing. Create an empty project , export as android project and copy paste the grade code of empty project to your gradle. This must work.

    Hi, I am facing the same error.

    What I am doing
    I am trying to integrate the unity app in the android app using the dynamic feature of android.

    Steps I followed
    1. I Exported the android project for android studio.
    2. prepared project for dynamic integration (converted library to dynamic feature)
    3. Run the application in mobile (Working fine, no lib not found error)
    4. Test using bundle tool of android (facing the error of libil2cpp.so not found)


    Solution I tried
    1. I tried adding the code
    SplitInstallHelper.loadLibrary(getApplicationContext(),"il2cpp"); and
    java.lang.System.loadLibrary("il2cpp"); before loading the dynamically downloaded module but no change facing the same error.
    2. I checked my aab and apks - all are having the libil2cpp.so inside the jniLibs folder.

    Please let me know if anyone here has the solution to this problem.

    I spent hours trying to fix this and none of the above helped. What worked was unchecking all my active scenes and creating an empty one -> Build And Run (the empty scene launched fine on the Android mobile) -> then rechecked (uncheck the empty scene or delete it) your previously active scenes

    I ran in the same problem when updating to Unity 2020. I found out that the task mentioned above is not enough, the grade file for the UnityLibrary also needs the functions getSdkDir() and BuildIl2Cpp().

    These functions can be found in the build.gradle file under unityLibrary (from an empty build) and copied to the main gradle template.

    Another bump on this issue. When upgrading from Unity 2020 to Unity 2021.3, I noticed a strange change: The approach to add BuildIl2Cpp() manually will break Unity's APK and AAB builds. They run fine if I take the code for building libil2cpp.so, which I had to add for Unity 2020, out.

    However, if I export the same project and try to run the app from Android Studio, it will crash immediately, because the library is missing. As soon as I add the code again, it works.

    So I have the option now: Either, I include the code and cannot build in the Editor, or I disable the code and cannot run the app in Android Studio.

    Is there any template for main.gradle that works in *both* scenarios without any modification? I compared the gradle files generated by Unity for a blank project, and they actually *differ*. One contains the code, the other won't. How can I mimick this behaviour with a custom main.gradle file?

    I am also wondering what change caused this? And why is Unity itself creating different gradle files now for building internally and for exporting to Android Studio?

    To answer my own (first) question: My main.gradle file was missing this line at the end, which seems to be new:

    **IL_CPP_BUILD_SETUP**

    This causes Unity to include the il2cpp build as needed, so I can build in both environments now. This took me days to figure out. Sigh.

    However, my second question still remains: Why is this necessary now to differentiate between export and internal build?
