    Hello friends,
I'm learning unity and loving it, except for one problem that I can't solve even after reading the manual for the hundred time :c
Here it is: I've lay down roads bit of road well snapped together, same Y checked numerical and all, and here is what I get in both editor and game view: black irregular lines as in the distance, on the road, yet the tiles are perfectly snapped, I tried having them overlap a bit, no difference, can anyone point me to an answer to this? I haven't touched the materialsshaders or the light or anything advanced (I'm not there yet)
I enclose 3 pics two from game view one from editor view without grid) Screen Shot 2016-10-16 at 23.55.46.png Screen Shot 2016-10-16 at 23.57.33.png Screen Shot 2016-10-16 at 23.57.06.png

Just quickly off the top of my head and one that's easy to forget; check your camera's near & far clipping planes (the 'nearClipPlane' and 'farClipPlane' properties under the Camera component). Generally, best practice is for near plane to be as far away as possible and far plane to be as close as possible to the camera. This'll help prevent depth artifacts and will give you higher quality directional shadows. The exact values depend on the game and what kind of scene you're rendering.

Also, check your texture wrap mode and mipmap settings; the grazing angle in third screenshot makes it look like it could be a problem with clamping and mipmap borders :)

hmmm after looking at my scene and the manual and trying a few things it seems indeed that mipmaps are the key to my road problem.
The trouble is I can't find in the manual or unity any "general" setting or mipmaps and as for the material of my offending road it's this:

    not very helpful.
I tried the drop down menu next to gizmos and asked to see mipmaps, I get red and blue, and my roads are ALL RED!
I feel a bit like (French expression that I love to express puzzlement and at a lossless) like a hen who's found a fork.
Any pointers would be most welcome, especially since I have a lot of roads, as this is supposed to be a driving game
    many thanks for your patience!

Seems like z-fighting, try to put your planes on slightly different height. Try to make difference but not visible one. Like 0.01 or so

I don't now if this is related but the console says "Requested resolution was clamped to maximum system size (512x512) on mesh 'road_square_mesh'." and I have problems with......... roads, does this point to a texture robleme like Teutonicus said? does it help??

Mip maps are in the texture settings (Texture Mode: Advanced), not material. Give them some Anisotropic too. This will stop your yellow lines blurring.

Also, go to Edit > Project Settings > Quality and choose Fantastic for the editor. Make Shadow Distance as small as works for you.
