It seems my XBox 360 controller doesn't work in Unity. Why?

I went ahead and set up all the things in Input Manager. Nothing registers at all. Not a single button. I bought a wired controller made by Afterglow. The store clerk said Microsoft controllers aren't made anymore. Do other brands simply not work? It auto-installed the drivers fine when I plugged it in (on Windows 7). No idea how to confirm if the controller works or not.

Is there another way outside of Unity I can try to confirm?

 

Have you tried it with some other game which supports XBox 360 Controllers?

 

Well, I'm just going to take it back. My coworker's controller works fine.

 

so i think the controller wasn't for PC

 

The lady in the store says it was. Whatever, I took it back.
