I can't switch between projects without first rebooting -- what's going on?

I am getting this error every time I try:

"It looks like another Unity instance is running with this project open"

I could end task all running tasks and it still refuses to work - only when I reboot (unless I'm missing some hidden task to end).

If I use my handy killUnity.bat file (Taskkill /IM Unity.exe /F) >> Start up Unity again >> Click my project >> I don't get there error.... however, it goes straight to the background and doesn't even show the icon. If I try again, it'll say it's already running.

I can repeat this cycle, but it won't actually work properly until I reboot. Unity 5.6.x (whatever the latest patch was in December)

Close Unity.exe and delete the file in your project directory: Temp/UnityLockfile
    Then start Unity.exe up again.

You just need to click one time on the project to open project , If you click double times on the project to open(as we click continues two times to open any software on windows, so not do this) ,than this error message appears ,
So just open unity hub, hover arrow on the project which you want to open and click only one time on the project . Now this time error message doesn't appear.

Thank you. Can't believe that it is the double click issue lol
